Talena Carter is a visual artist born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. She currently resides in Elk, Washington with her husband and four children. She finds joy in walks through the woods, a good book, and meaningful conversation. Talena is passionate in  merging visual art with story—hoping to bring people closer to one another and to God.

She has considered herself an artist her whole life, echoing Picasso's observation that every child is an artist; the challenge is remaining one into adulthood. Her childhood was spent drawing her favorite animals orcas and humpback whales. Art classes were few but loved and gradually childhood passions gave way to adult responsibilities. But the heart finds a way and the practices that brought us such joy as a child are never really lost.

 Talena's reconnection with her artistry came about ten years ago, inspired by a vivid dream in which she found herself immersed in a Vincent van Gogh painting featuring two barn owls. The dream painting was alive with energy—a swirling cosmos of color and spirit. Though she has yet to paint that dream, she woke with an undeniable eagerness and curiosity that propelled her back to visual art.

 With  dedicated play and curiosity- Talena created  interesting and experimental pieces. Through this journey, she rediscovered dormant parts of herself and developed a deep love for mixed media—drawn to the surprises and unexpected results that working with varied materials provides.  The last year has been spent in the Milan Art Mastery program, honing her skill and technique and learning the fundamentals of art in a structured environment.  She still endeavors to keep her artwork playful and childlike while being created in a spirit of excellence.
 Her larger hope is that her artwork opens hearts and imaginations to the divine nature woven throughout creation, celebrating the mystery and wonder of life.
